Every October, Warner Bros Movie World on Australia's Gold Coast celebrates Halloween with mazes based on scary movies like Saw, Psycho and A Nightmare on Elm Street.

This year, one of the mazes in the Fright Nights attraction is based on upcoming game The Evil Within.

Trying to recreate a game as full-on and intense as this in real life is insane, but somehow it works, with loads of different scares and big frights.

"As we've evolved making these mazes over the years, we're getting more high-tech, we're using a lot more gadgets " says Movie World Fright Nights Maze designer Chris Grew.

"But how do you make the mazes scary? The simple answer is lots of blood and guts."

The mazes are designed with a huge production budget. They are massive and do not skimp on the detail or the gore.

Although The Evil Within hasn't been released yet, it already has fans. For them, seeing characters from the game in real life is a big thrill.

"Being a big fan of Shinji Mikami and Bethesda [The Evil Within creators], I've tried to be as faithful as I can to what they've already created," says Grew.

"They've created an amazing universe with The Evil Within, all I'm trying to do is be true to that, and make it a real world experience for people."

The Evil Within Maze is scaring people at Movie World Gold Coast for the rest of October. The game is released in New Zealand on October 16.
