Ang Lee receives top honour In Taiwan

Oscar-winning filmmaker Ang Lee has been hailed as the "glory of Taiwan" after returning to his native country to receive a top honour.

The Life of Pi director was invited to attend a special ceremony in the city of Taipei on Friday, when he was presented with the Order of the Brilliant Star by President Ma Ying-Jeou to celebrate his outstanding success in Hollywood.

Accepting the award, Lee told the audience, "I win this medal because of my Oscar award, I share the Oscar with everyone and I share this honour with everyone. I hope Taiwan's arts and entertainment will get better and better."

Lee became the first Asian to win the Best Director Academy Award in 2007 when he walked away with the prestigious prize for Brokeback Mountain.
