Argo and Les Miserables have emerged as the early Oscars favourites in the first publication of awards race website GoldDerby.com's odds, with Daniel Day Lewis and Jennifer Lawrence out in front in the acting categories.
Experts predict Ben Affleck's Argo will nudge out star-studded musical Les Miserables for Best Picture, with Silver Linings Playbook, Lincoln and Zero Dark Thirty bringing up the rear, while Day Lewis' Abraham Lincoln will lead the charge for Best Actor, ahead of Joaquin Phoenix (The Master) and John Hawkes (The Sessions).
The Hunger Games star Lawrence, who was Oscar nominated alongside Hawkes for Winter's Bone, is the clear early favourite to land the 2013 Best Actress trophy for Silver Linings Playbook, with Marion Cotillard (Rust & Bone) and Quvenzhane Wallis (Beasts of the Southern Wild) also in the running.
Philip Seymour Hoffman (The Master) and Anne Hathaway (Les Miserables) lead the early Supporting Actor and Actress races.
