Australian band Sticky Fingers has gone on an indefinite hiatus to "deal with internal issues in the band".

In a Facebook post this afternoon, the band announced the shows booked over the New Year's period will be their last for a while.

The post did not go into detail over what the internal issues were, only that "they've heightened to the point where it's not fair to anyone involved for us not to do something."

"We would like to apologise to anyone that has been affected by this."

The band, consisting of members Dylan Frost, Paddy Cornwall, Seamus Coyle, Beaker Best, and Freddy Crabs, are booked to play at the sold-out Bay Dreams festival in Mount Mangauni on January 2.

It will be the last chance for Kiwi fans to see Sticky Fingers hits such as 'How to Fly' and 'Australia Street' live for an indefinite period.
