Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch will read a new work penned by Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy during this week's Richard III reburial at Leicester Cathedral in England.
The actor, who will play the king in an upcoming BBC drama, is one of Richard's distant cousins, according to Leicester University scholars.
Duffy admits she's thrilled the British star has been selected to read her poem, titled Richard, and she's excited to be part of a major historical event, stating, "It is a privilege to be involved, in a small way, in this unique event and to have seen the style and grace with which the city of Leicester has made history alive."
The remains of Richard, the last English king to die in battle, were discovered under a car park in 2012.
