Happy Mondays star Bez is set to stage a John Lennon-style 'bed-in' next month to protest against fracking and has invited The Beatles star's widow Yoko Ono to join him.

The British dancer/percussionist, real name Mark Berry, launched himself into the world of politics earlier this year when he announced he will run as a Member of Parliament for his native Salford, England in next year's UK general election.

He plans to oppose the controversial gas-extraction method as part of his eco-friendly manifesto and has been a vocal opponent of the Barton Moss fracking exploration site in Manchester, England.

As part of his campaign, Bez plans to recreate Lennon and Ono's famous 1969 anti-war protests in Amsterdam, Netherlands and Montreal, Canada when they stayed in bed for a week to promote world peace.

Bez plans to descend on a hotel bed in Kensington, London with his fiancee Firouzeh Razavi to fight his cause and wants Ono to join him, according to reports.
