Treyarch and Activision have released a trailer and details on the impending multiplayer beta of Call of Duty: Black Ops III.

The beta testing period launches for PlayStation 4 users next week. Treyarch says feedback from it will help "fine-tune" the full game's release in November and stress test it in "particular ways".

Beta testers will have access to seven established Call of Duty game modes, eight playable specialists and the Weapon Paintshop. Levelling up will be available in the beta, but Treyarch will impose "gated progression caps along the way".

The three multiplayer maps included in the beta are: Hunted, a big game hunting lodge beneath a waterfall in the Ethiopian mountains, Combine, a research facility in the remote Egyptian Sahara, and Evac, an abandoned evacuation zone in Singapore.

The beta is unfortunately not available to all Call of Duty fans, but only customers who have pre-ordered the game.

It launches August 19 on PlayStation 4 and August 26 for Xbox One and PC.

Details on the beta specialists available are published on Treyarch.com.
