Five young New Zealand comedians are vying for the Billy T award tonight.
They were testing out their best material in Auckland ahead of the comedy festival in May.
David Correos is young, gifted and seriously funny, surely a recipe for comedy gold.
It turns out Correos is well-practised at whipping off clothes in the name of comedy and he has nearly a million YouTube hits for his Miley Cyrus impression.
But he met his match in a very young heckler.
"I thought someone's phone was going off and they had the ring tone of a baby crying," Correos says.
"It turns out it was an actual baby in the audience and then in a Lion King fashion, she lifted the baby up and said, 'this is what's making the noise', and I was: 'I've got nothing'."
Laura Daniel is a veteran of Jono and Ben and Funny Girl -- her gift is creating comic personalities.
"You'll see a few more of my out-there characters who are in your face, but hopefully it'll go down well," she says.
Software analyst Alice Brine will have a story to tell in her set so brace yourselves.
"It's quite graphic, it's surprising and I'm really pleased to tell this whole story in front of a lot of people in Auckland."
Brine blasts the cliché of the nerdy IT specialist.
Past Billy T winners include Ewen Gilmour, Guy Williams and just about the whole 7 Days team.
