Superman first appeared in a comic book 75 years ago, in 1938.
Since then the superhero has appeared in countless comic books, TV shows and films.
Now there's a new film out here next week called Man of Steel, one that hopes to make Superman relevant to a new generation who've been raised on comic book films.
Among the cast are Hollywood royalty Diane Lane and Kevin Costner, who spoke with David Farrier in Los Angeles.
