Minority actors stole the show at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in Los Angeles, in a pointed counter to the all-white Oscar nominations.

Black actress Viola Davis won the female drama series award for How to Get Away with Murder for the second year in a row.

British actor Idris Elba won the supporting actor for Beasts of No Nation, along with a second award for his role in Luther.

He thanked the judges for allowing the film to shine.

Four black actors took home wins, including Queen Latifah for playing blues singer Bessie Smith in HBO's Bessie, and Uzo Aduba from Orange is the New Black.
