Alec Baldwin does not have a fan in Donald Trump.

The Republican presidential candidate ripped Baldwin in a tweet early on Monday morning (NZT time), bashing Baldwin's impression of him.

He also accused comedy show Saturday Night Live (SNL) of doing a "hit job" on him in its parody of last Sunday's town hall debate, and claimed the media is rigging the election.

Baldwin has been portraying Mr Trump since the start of the 42nd season, which debuted three weeks ago.

On last week's show, SNL tackled everything from Mr Trump's stage-stalking of Hillary Clinton at the second debate to the sudden fame of Ken Bone.

"Tonight, I'm going to do three things," Baldwin said as Mr Trump in the cold open. "I'm going to huff. I'm going to puff. I'm going to blow this whole thing..."

Mr Trump's comments on Monday are unusual for a presidential candidate.

In 2008, when Tina Fey was playing vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin in a series of sketches, Ms Palin may have not been pleased, but she did agree to do a cameo before the election.

Mr Trump hosted SNL last November to protests and controversy.
