A video of an Australian broadcaster attempting to explain the meaning of a "dank meme" is brewing a strong following online.
The dry explanation was aired yesterday on ABC TV, where the announcer reads the knowyourmeme.com definition of "dank meme".
"'Dank Memes' is an ironic expression used to describe online viral media and in-jokes that are intentionally bizarre or have exhausted their comedic value to the point of being trite or cliché," the website explains.
A meme is can be an image, hyperlink, video, website, or hashtag, usually a picture with text overlayed. It can be just a word or phrase, including an intentional misspelling.
The video garnered attention on Reddit and is currently the top post in their video forum.
