The latest Godzilla remake has opened in New Zealand cinemas this week after nearly 30 Japanese films and two prior American versions.
Gareth Edwards (Monsters) directs the new film, which stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston, Elizabeth Olsen, Ken Watanabe and Sally Hawkins.
The story finds Godzilla emerging to restore the balance of nature when a powerful force threatens all of humanity.
Warner Bros describe the film as "a powerful story of human courage and reconciliation in the face of titanic forces of nature, when the awe-inspiring monster rises to restore balance as humanity stands defenceless".
