Arya Stark has a new addition to her list. Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams is calling for an end to live dolphin shows.

The actress is the global ambassador for Ric O'Barry's Dolphin Project - and has joined with celebrities Brian May of Queen, Sting and Daryl Hannah to save the animals from capture, torture, and killing in Japan.

"These animals travel the ocean. That's what they explore daily. No tank will be big enough. No tank will ever be deep enough, ever be exciting enough," she said on Friday from Japan.

The small Japanese town of Taiji has become infamous for its dolphin hunt.

The animals are herded together, and trapped. The best-looking ones are sold to aquariums and shows. The rest are beaten to death.

"What goes in Taiji stems from supply and demand. If we stop buying tickets to dolphin shows, the demand for captive dolphins goes away," she said on Twitter.

Williams says she can't stand by and let the dolphins suffer.

"It was something that just struck a chord in my heart. And I'm a firm believer that, if there is something that you really want to stand up and fight for, then you should," she says.

"And with everyone doing their own little bit for what they believe in, hopefully together we can make the world a better place."
