We're still about a year out from new episodes of Game of Thrones, but the hype machine is already starting to ramp up.

Maisie Williams, one of the lead stars of HBO's acclaimed fantasy drama, has finished reading scripts for the new season and sent out a series of tweets on Tuesday telling fans that they better start preparing themselves now.

She followed this up by saying: "Scratch that, nothing will prepare [fans] for this."

Taking inspiration from the novels by George RR Martin, the show has now outpaced the books and is heading into unknown territory.

As such little is known about the direction the show is heading in, but Williams warned fans that "s**t gets real."

Season seven of Game of Thrones is due to premiere in mid-2017, and will consist of a slightly shorter run of seven episodes.
