Martial arts legend Jackie Chan is fronting a new anti-drugs drive in Singapore following his son's recent prison stint on a marijuana charge.

The Rush Hour star's 32-year-old son Jaycee spent six months behind bars after he was convicted of allowing others to take drugs in his apartment, following a police raid on his home which turned up a stash of marijuana.

Chan, who issued a public apology over Jaycee's behaviour, has now been named as Singapore's first celebrity anti-drugs ambassador and he has vowed to help discourage youngsters from turning to substance abuse.

He says of his new role, "I would never think it would happen to my family. The day I found out, I am so ashamed, I am so angry. How [did] that happen? I was very angry but it made me more determined to be against drugs... Don't ever think you won't get addicted, because not only are you hurting yourself... your one drug addiction will hurt your family. In order to earn money, you'll steal, you'll rob. In the end, you're hurting your country, you're hurting your family... it's a domino effect."
