Filmmaker Joss Whedon has stunned fans by releasing his latest film online, minutes after it premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on Sunday.
In a short video message, recorded on the set of Avengers sequel Age of Ultron, Whedon announced In Your Eyes would be available to rent via Vimeo.com immediately.
He said, "It's exciting for us because we get to explore yet another new form of distribution - and we get $5 (rental fee)."
Stars Zoe Kazan and Nikki Reed walked the red carpet at Tribeca to promote the supernatural love story, which was written and produced by Whedon.
"This is Whedon at his most big-hearted and easily accessible. Sure, there are genre aspects to the screenplay, but they’re hardly explored," writes Drew Taylor in his Indiewire review.
"For those unshackled by brittle cynicism and willing to play in an imaginary realm far cuter than anything Joss Whedon has come up with before, then In Your Eyes will be a warm-hearted delight."
