Lohan not ready to give up on abusive fiancé

Lindsay Lohan says she can't stay with her fiancé, Russian fortune heir Egor Tarabasov, if he's going to keep assaulting her.

But even after a video emerged showing him attacking her on a Greek beach, she's not taking off her engagement ring.

"I realise now you can't stay in a relationship just for love," the Mean Girls actress told UK tabloid the Daily Mail after the video's release. The paper noted she was still wearing the ring he gave her in September.

"No woman can be hit and stay with that person if that person isn't prepared to say sorry."

In the clip, Lohan can be seen throwing Tarabasov's phone out of their car. She then jumps out of the car to pick up the phone as Tarabasov chases after her.

Tarabasov grabs Lohan and twists her arm to get the phone back.

"Egor drank too much and he went crazy," is all she would say about the incident, which followed another where she claims he "just strangled me".

No charges have been laid over either incident, and Lohan appears to want to patch things up with the 23-year-old heir to a business fortune.

"I genuinely fell in love with him but he broke my trust and made me feel unsafe," she told the Daily Mail.

"I know I'm not an angel but I've tried to fix things. It's down to him now. I had suggested we go for couples' counselling but there comes a time when I have to put myself first, my family, and also think about my career which I've worked so hard for. I also don't want to let my fans down by not being the strong woman I have become."

Lohan's once-promising career was derailed by drug and alcohol use and erratic behaviour.

"I'm a really good actress, I know that. I've made mistakes, the important thing is I've learned from them."

She's reportedly been working on ideas for a sequel to Mean Girls starring the original cast.
