Meat Loaf collapses on stage in Canada

Singer Meat Loaf has collapsed on stage in Canada, which some audience members at first believed was part of the act.

Photos of the concert, posted to social media, expressed concern over the incident on Thursday night (local time) at the Jubliee Auditorium in Edmonton, the Edmonton Journal reports.

Video from the concert shows him slowly falling to the ground at the beginning of 'I'd Do Anything for Love'. Things turned serious when bandmates and tour staff crowded around him and security told people to leave the venue.

Fans were reportedly told to leave the venue around 9:30pm, and some saw ambulances and fire trucks outside.

One fan, Britt Brewer, said the event was "surreal".

"He had just finished 'Bat Out of Hell', and had just started 'I Would Do Everything For Love' [sic], and it looked at first like he was just being theatrical and lying down on the stage," she says.

Edmonton police confirmed they responded to a medical call at the Northern Jubilee Auditorium and took a patient to Edmonton Hospital.

The incident comes days after Meat Loaf, real name Marvin Lee Aday, was forced to cancel a Calgary show because of illness.
