Nervous travellers advised to pack a sense of humour

It's been a few years since comedian Pam Ann touched down in New Zealand, but since then the aviation and travel world has changed a lot.

Disasters like MH370 and MH17 have increased the level of stress for nervous travellers.

Pam Ann is a strong believer of taking the time to laugh to deal with stressful situations.

"It’s important to laugh at something. It defuses stress of a situation. With things like MH370, as a person of course I'm upset and I'm upset for the family and friends.  But, it's a pop culture event now, and it's important when you're stressed to have a laugh."

Her tour is to celebrate 20 years of Pam Ann's comedic character, but it will only be her second time in New Zealand.

Pam Ann is introducing two new characters to the show.

"Caitlyn and Gloria are transgender who work for Qantas. They wanted to go to Emirates, but Emirates aren't quite ready for the trans community.

"Another change in the travel industry has been the super long haul flights including the nearly 18-hour long flight to Auckland on Qatar Airways.

"Qatar Airways is so wealthy, you can do horse riding on board and there's swimming pools. They've got movies on board that haven’t been made yet. They pretty much clean their planes with oil and money," she says.

Pam Ann says she's counting down the days to her New Zealand visit and is a massive fan of Air New Zealand's safety videos.

"I love them. They’re genius. I f***ing love the Hobbit one, and the naked painting one.  I want to meet a Hobbit.”

Pam Ann’s Auckland show in August is selling fast.
