The Playboy Mansion finally has a new owner after selling for US$100 million.

As part of the deal, current owner Hugh Hefner, 90, gets to stay there for the rest of his life.

The purchaser is businessman Daren Metropoulos, who lives next door. He says once Hefner leaves, he'll combine the 5-acre Playboy estate with his 2-acre section.

Mr Metropoulos calls it a "one-of-a-kind piece of history and art".

"The Playboy Mansion is one of the most iconic properties in the world and the crown jewel of Holmby Hills and the platinum triangle."

Hefner bought the Playboy Mansion in 1971 for $1.05 million, tucking away a tidy little profit with this sale.
