Avengers star Scarlett Johansson has reportedly been tapped to star in a remake of monster movie Creature From The Black Lagoon.
Studio officials at Universal have recruited The Amazing Spider-Man 2 screenwriter Jeff Pinkner to pen the script for the reboot, and Johansson has allegedly been linked to a lead role as Kay Lawrence, a scientist who discovers a pre-historic half-human, half-fish creature in the Amazonian jungle.
It remains to be seen if Johansson will be available for this role in addition to fulfilling her Marvel obligations, which she has been contracted to for approximately five to six films.
Pinkner is currently adapting Stephen King's The Dark Tower for Warner Bros.
The original movie, directed by Jack Arnold and starring Richard Carlson and Julie Adams, was released in 1954 and has since become a cult classic.
