Comic book fans are in melt-down after the announcement that Alien and Avatar star Sigourney Weaver has signed on to play the main villain in Netflix's series The Defenders.
Due for release in late 2017, The Defenders is the culmination of a series of Netflix and Marvel productions, including Daredevil and Jessica Jones.
Weaver joined her co-stars on stage at Comic-Con as the announcement was made.
It is currently unknown which character Weaver will be playing.
