An eight-year-old girl returned home from trick-or-treating with a bag of methamphetamine amongst her sweets.
Her parents contacted police in Hercules, California, they have confirmed that it is crystal methamphetamine and are now investigating.
Sg. Ezra Tafesse tells the Contra Costa Times: "This could have been intentional or it could have been accidental and we won't know until we speak with the person who did this.
"More than anything, we want to educate the public to inspect their children's candy before giving it to them."
Other parents in the community are now checking their children's sweets.
