Late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel is the host of the 68th Annual Primetime Emmys - but he didn't take the most conventional route to the awards ceremony.

Beginning his journey in the back of an SUV during a high-speed police chase akin to that in The People v. O.J. Simpson, Kimmel had to try several different vehicles before finally arriving at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles.

After being dropped off on the side of a motorway, Kimmel is invited into a people mover in an attempt to get to the Emmys on time - but unfortunately for him, the vehicle is owned by the cast of hit comedy series Modern Family.

He's able to make some ground in their car, but after the family's father Phil attempts to wow Kimmel with a smoke bomb-based magic trick, they crash - leaving Kimmel again needing to find an alternative mode of transport.

After hitchhiking for a time, fellow late night TV host James Corden picks Kimmel up and they engage in a short round of his renowned segment 'Carpool Karaoke', before Corden grows weary of Kimmel's singing and kicks him out.

He's then forced to wave down a car which has Veep's Selina Meyer and right-hand man Gary in the back - but after being rejected entry he jumps in the passenger seat, only to be confronted by former Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush.

They have a conversation where Bush explains that he's now an Uber driver and is earning $12 an hour driving people around for a living - but "godless Hollywood hippie" Kimmel again gets kicked out and is left to fend for himself.

After so many failed attempts to get to the Emmys, Kimmel falls on his knees asking for supernatural help - which he gets, finally, in the form of Game of Thrones character Daenerys and her pet dragon.
