Lorde's second album appears to be on the horizon, with a listening party held in Los Angeles and a new music video apparently in the can.

Her label, Republic Records, reportedly played her new sounds for industry insiders on Friday night (local time). Billboard music editor Jason Lipshutz appeared to confirm the rumours, tweeting just three words afterwards Saturday: "Oh my Lorde".

Entertainment site Just Jared tweeted the new music is "top notch" and "v pop, v dance & v uniquely Lorde".

"Need another listen SO BADLY!!!"

The tweet was later deleted.

A Twitter account called Lorde_fix, which the star has previously endorsed, tweeted on Saturday "multiple members of Lorde's old crew [had a very] long shoot at a location in LA overnight".

Stylist Karla Welch posted a short video of herself and Lorde, real name Ella Yelich-O'Connor.

"That was the greatest," the singer says. "It's seven in the morning. Can you believe it?"

Lorde's hairdresser, producer and make-up artist were also reportedly spotted at the video shoot.

It's been three-and-a-half years since the North Shore 20-year-old's debut, Pure Heroine, topped charts worldwide.
