Andrew Mulligan shocked by dog collar for on-air stuff-up

The Rock Morning Rumble host Andrew Mulligan has been forced to redo his infamous "drunk" Sky TV interview wearing a shock collar after making a dog's breakfast of the original during a Super Rugby match at the weekend.

Mulligan also works for Sky TV as a commentator, and in the clip he can be heard slurring his words while asking Stormers first five-eight Robert du Preez how his side could stop the Crusaders, who were at that point leading by 33 points.

Du Preez had to ask for clarification - and though his question made more sense the second time round Mulligan was still making speaking sound difficult, leading many to speculate that he was drunk on the job.

Mulligan originally claimed in a Twitter post that he was "drunk AF" - but later clarified he wasn't actually inebriated, and that his earpiece was echoing loudly in his ear and threw him off.

But that wasn't stopping his fellow Morning Rumble hosts punishing him for his slurring interview.

While Roger Farrelly and Bryce Casey had already made him read out the most vicious criticisms of his gaffe on Wednesday morning, they had an even more ruthless punishment in store for when he arrived at work on Thursday.

The hosts gave a new meaning to the phrase 'shock jocks', making him don a dog shock collar and carry out his fateful interview with Robert du Preez all over again - except this time, every mistake he made would result in thousands of volts of electricity coursing through his body.

With Casey stepping in as du Preez and also in control of administering the shocks, Mulligan knew he would be electrified regardless of his performance - and that was certainly the case, with the radio personality making no gaffes of serious note but still receiving four shocks to his threat.

While you can't teach an old dog new tricks, Mulligan will be hoping the collar shocked the mistakes out of him ahead of him ahead of this weekend's Super Rugby action.
