Snoop Dogg: Treat Fox News exile Bill O'Reilly like Bill Cosby

Snoop Dogg has waded into the debate around the treatment of disgraced former Fox News host Bill O'Reilly, saying his name should be dragged through the mud the same way comedian and accused rapist Bill Cosby's was.

O'Reilly has been forced out of his position as a primetime host on the conservative network after a string of sexual harassment complaints against him.

Fox confirmed the presenter's departure on Thursday (NZ Time), after the disclosure of multiple settlements involving sexual harassment allegations against him.

In an Instagram video, rapper Snoop Dogg lays into both O'Reilly and Fox News, saying it's unacceptable that the broadcaster is allowed to be left in peace while he holidays in Italy.

"They sweat Bill Cosby but they let this n***a go on vacation," Snoop says, while smoking a joint.

Cosby is facing a criminal sex assault case this year, after more than 50 women came forward in 2015 claiming the comic drugged, raped or acted inappropriately against them.

The 79-year-old's impending trial involves a single 2004 encounter at his home with a former Temple University employee Andrea Constand.

"It's f**ked up. It's that [white] privilege sh*t we're talking about. He got to hide while he deals with that sh*t, but y'all drag Bill Cosby's old ass to court and tried to humiliate him.

"Humiliate this motherf**ker Bill O'Reilly. Take his ass to court like they do the n****s when they f**k up like that."

Snoop Dogg - and much of the US hip-hop community - have had gripes with O'Reilly over the years. The 67-year-old made a habit of attacking rappers over their perceived advocacy of gun crime and vulgarity, and their propensity to attack Fox News and Republicans.

O'Reilly first started knocking Snoop in 2005 and carried it on over the course of a number of years, mainly criticising him for his criminal record - he'd been arrested 11 times - and drug and gun crimes.

In 2007, Snoop told a Dutch TV programme that he wanted O'Reilly to come to his neighbourhood to interview him, so that he could "kick his mother**king ass when the show is over with".

O'Reilly responded by saying that Snoop now lived in an upper-class neighbourhood, and joked "Is a pool boy going to beat me up there, Snoopy?"

O'Reilly has also attacked the likes of Kanye West, Jay-Z, Ludacris, Nas, 50 Cent, Eminem, Lupe Fiasco, Common and Mos Def while presenting The O'Reilly Factor on Fox.
