In the next episode of The Bachelor NZ, Zac meets the families of the final three contenders - Claudia, Lily and Viarni.
Before he gets asked the hard questions by the dads, we caught up with the girls' best mates to see what they really thought of the Bachelor himself.

What did you think when Claud said she was auditioning for The Bachelor?
Claudia: It surprised us. I said to Claud that I couldn't do that personally, but out of our group of friends, she would be the one to go on The Bachelor. She's spontaneous and she loves different experiences, it was an opportunity to look for love in a different way.
Maddie: I wasn't surprised. She's always doing something different that is fun and exciting. I was a little bit nervous. It's a protective thing, making sure that she's going to be happy and that it's not going to hurt her. Her whole heart will be with him, you can trust that she will be giving everything that she has to Zac.
When you first saw Zac what did you think - was he her type?
Claudia: It didn't shock me, but I possibly wouldn't have picked him from the get-go. Her past relationships are varied, she doesn't have a set type.
Maddie: I think he's looks-wise different to what she's into. She's normally with weasels, I hated most of them! Zac's personality is maybe not like her typical type, but reading his bio I thought they'd get along, little things like he's a Rosmini boy and she's a Carmel girl, we always get along. Also, the water thing, she's a water baby, loves being outside, she's always at the beach, she's always out doing stuff.

How long have you known Lily?
I have known Lily since I was 10 years old, so 10 years now. She is my favourite person the in the world.
When you found out she was applying for The Bachelor, were you surprised?
I was... it's something she would probably never ever do, because of the TV and dating element - I didn't think she would want to date someone publicly like this. But she is the type of person who gives anything a go.
When you first saw Zac, what did you think?
Zac looks like my Dad, funnily enough! That's the first thing that Lily and I both agreed on. He's handsome, he's tall, he's older - Lily likes older boys because she's very mature.
In terms of other guys Lily has dated – are they different or similar to Zac?
She hasn't had a lot of boyfriends, but the other guys she's shown interest in - they're a bit different. They are similar in they have their own backgrounds and have their heads screwed on. They know what they want. She's into those type of people; adventurous and fun because she's not a boring person, she can't sit in the house for a whole day and do nothing.

What did you think when Viarni was going to audition for The Bachelor?
Lulu: We knew she'd always wanted to do it, she loves being in the spotlight, and we were stoked for her. But I think when it actually happened we were like, oh, wow, this is real, it's actually happening! It felt unreal. It still feels unreal actually.
Jess: She makes the most of opportunities to get herself out there. She's very driven in that sense.
What do you think Viarni's 'type' is and what were you hoping for in the Bachelor before you saw him?
Kat: We thought more Art than Jordan! And [Zac] is more Art than Jordan.
Esti: I didn't really know what to expect.
Kat: But she always said I hope he's a bit like Art!
Jess: He's so much bigger than a guy she would ever normally go for! He's built.
Kat: You should see what her ex-boyfriends look like! They're smaller.
Jess: He's muscly.
Kat: He's just not her usual type.
Jess: And he's brunette! I don't think she has a type in that sense but she sort of likes, I suppose to generalise, surfy guys. And a lot of surfy guys have the sun-kissed blonde thing.
Now that you've seen him - what do you think of Zac?
Kat: I was like - he's just so different to what V would normally go for, I can't see it happening.
Jess: This is kind of weird to say but I saw a really nice smile. And the tan, dark hair and... sometimes you're kind of attracted to someone like…
Kat: Who has similar features to you! They have a similar look!
Esti: You are subconsciously attracted to people who have a similar look to you.
