Is Sir Paul McCartney coming to NZ?

Rumours are circulating that ex-Beatles star Sir Paul McCartney could be on his way to the country.

Frontier Touring has tweeted out a photo of a man playing a left handed guitar, as Sir Paul famously does, with kangaroo and kiwi symbols edited on.

A quick Google image search reveals photos of Sir Paul wielding the same 1964 Epiphone Texan acoustic guitar with the same scratches beneath the strings. An image on music website Feel Numb clearly shows the same guitar.

A similar post emerged on Frontier Touring's feed just days before Ed Sheeran's New Zealand tour dates were announced, including the same two symbols.

Another photo posted on Monday evening shows the date June 21st, which some believe is the date tickets will go on sale.

Sir Paul was last in New Zealand in 1993 as part of The New World Tour.

He was meant to return in 2002 but that tour was cancelled after the Bali bombings.
