Kesha claims aliens inspired new album

Kesha says her new album was inspired by a first-hand extraterrestrial experience she had in California's Joshua Tree National Park.

Appearing on US radio show the Zach Sang Show, the 30-year-old 'Tik Tok' singer says she was completely sober at the time, when she saw a group of alien spaceships flying in front of her.

"I was in Joshua Tree, totally sober - let me preface [this, I was] completely f***ing sober... I think people would be like, 'She was on acid' or something. I wasn't. I was on nothing," she said.

"I swear to God, there were like five to seven, and I don't know why I didn't like try to take a picture of it - I just looked at it. I was sitting on a rock, and I was like, 'What in the hell is that?'

"I was trying to figure it out, and then they went away... I was like, 'Those are f**king aliens.' They were spaceships."

The songwriter and singer was promoting the release of her third studio album, Rainbow, when she opened up about the encounter. One of the album's tracks is entitled 'Spaceship' and its cover art features several spaceships.

Kesha had previously taken to Instagram post to inform her followers: "UFOs are real. I have seen them. Not playing."

Rainbow is the first album Kesha has released since filing a lawsuit against her producer, Dr Luke, claiming that he submitted her to years of sexual, physical, verbal and emotional abuse.
