The last remaining successful couple from last season's Married at First Sight Australia have called it quits.

Despite getting matching tattoos while they were in New Zealand, Nick Furfy and Sharon Marsh are over, after meeting on the reality television show nine months ago.

Marsh, 32, said she realised she was no longer in love with Furfy after moving to Melbourne to live with him eight weeks ago.

"I soon realised that I'm not in love with him," she told New Idea.

"I've shed many tears over this, because I really wanted it to work. I wanted the butterflies and roses  but I also needed a deeper love.

I had a constant ache in my chest and it didn't feel like I'd made the right decision. I missed everything about home  my dog, my sister, my parents."

Last month, Furphy showed off a tattoo which said, "I love Shaz" on the side of his left foot. Marsh got matching ink with the words, "I love Nick" on the same foot.

Following Marsh's interview, Furphy told the magazine he was shocked by her decision.

"It broke my heart. I started to shake and couldn't believe what I was hearing," he said.

"I fell hard and fast and gave it my all. It has made me lose my faith in love a little bit."

A New Zealand series of Married at First Sight will begin screening later this year.
