An internet prankster with more than 3.7 million Facebook followers has been slammed after footage emerged of him calling a man a "f****t" and telling him to return to Russia.

Jack Jones has made a living out of YouTube pranks that have seen him shout at people on planes, frighten people in public and test reactions to his awkward antics.

There have already been a number of questions about the authenticity of many of his social experiments, and Jones seems to thrive on being controversial as a way to garner more followers.

But in a new, covertly filmed video he is seen hurling xenophobic and homophobic slurs at another man.

"Go back to your own country, you f****t. I'll knock the f**k out of you!" Jones can be heard yelling in the damning footage.

Later, he can be heard making fun of his foe's lack of finances, shouting, "You have no money!"

Jones' social media accounts have since been littered with disparaging comments, drowning out the usual acclaim he gets on his videos.

Jones has since responded, denying claims he is racist or anti-gay.

"I was out with my friends walking down the street when a group of Russian men barged me and my friends and said 'What you going to do about it you English scum?'" he said in a statement.

"They started being racist to my friend, so I got involved stupidly. I was really upset the way they treated us resulting in me lashing out with very poor of choice of words.

"I don't condone racism in any form and those that know me know that I'm not homophobic in anyway."

It is not yet known what long-term effects the unfavourable clip will have on Jones' public profile.
