Rapper Scribe is no longer wanted by police, after contacting police officers on Wednesday afternoon.

The 38-year-old Kiwi music icon, whose real name is Malo Luafutu, was the subject of a police search this afternoon after failing to appear in the Christchurch District Court on drug and weapon charges.

A police spokeswoman told Newshub on Wednesday afternoon that Lufautu is not currently in police custody, but is no longer wanted by police.

"He made contact with officers in regards to his outstanding warrant to arrest, and he's been instructed to return to the Porirua District Court tomorrow," she said.

The 38-year-old, real name Malo Ioane Luafutu, found fame in the early 2000s, his debut single 'Stand Up' winning Single of the Year at the 2004 New Zealand Music Awards. In its flipside, 'Not Many', the rapper coined the catchphrase "not many, if any".
