Dame Kiri Ta Kanawa has announced her retirement from a half-century-long career in opera singing.
The New Zealander has appeared in all of the world's major opera houses and concert halls, and sang at the wedding of the Prince Charles and Princess Diana in 1981.
She was the first singer to perform the Rugby World Cup anthem, World in Union, in 1991.
Although she hasn't performed in more than a year, it's taken the soprano this long to make the announcement that she'll never perform in public again.
"I don't want to hear my voice," the 73-year-old told the BBC.
"It is in the past. When I'm teaching young singers and hearing beautiful young fresh voices, I don't want to put my voice next to theirs."
Dame Kiri says she doesn't miss singing, and she wanted full control when her final note would be.
"Look what I had. The memories are lovely."
Her final performance was a concert in Ballarat in Australia last October.
"Before I'd gone on, I said, right, this it. And that was the end."
