Grand Designs NZ 2017: Canopy House

  • 31/10/2017

The latest episode of Grand Designs NZ chronicled the building of David and Robyn Shea's architectural build on Waiheke Island.

It's a dream home, looking across a native canopy.

The site was very difficult to access. With no driveway, instead it demanded a slippery hike through trees to a site at the top of a steep bank.

Builders had to lug every component in my hand and bad weather meant they had to shut the site down several times.

The owners could have built on the base of the site but chose instead to have no road access and will always have to walk or use their all-terrain vehicle to get from the road to the house.

The full episode can be viewed at ThreeNow.co.nz, while a photo gallery of the home is featured below.
