Naya Rivera's friends and family are said to be "very concerned" for the actress' health, as she shelters from media following her arrest.
The former Glee star was arrested for domestic battery on the weekend, after allegedly assaulting husband/actor Ryan Dorsey. The pair were home with their two-year-old son, when Rivera struck her husband in the head and face, TMZ reports.
She was arrested, then released on a US$1000 bail (NZ$1450).
In the emergency call, Justified actor Dorsey reportedly said the actress was "out of control" and "getting physical".
Dorsey tweeted a statement on Tuesday (local time), asking for privacy and saying "this isn't some reality show".
"This is a difficult time for everyone in the family, especially for Naya and I," he wrote.
"This isn't some reality show, this is our life and I ask that everyone, especially 'the media' please respect our privacy and treat us/this situation how you want a loved one to be treated.
"Perhaps with kindness, respect, without judgement, and as negative a situation as this is, with positivity and love. Thanks."
E News reports that a source told them Rivera's friends and family "are very concerned for her well-being".
"This is not the first time that their relationship has been violent, and the fact that she hit her husband and lashed out like that is very scary to everyone around her.
"Many people close to Naya are urging her to seek immediate help for the sake of her son and herself."
