Father John Misty wasn't at the Grammys when he won this week, but has given a bizarre, expletive-laden acceptance speech while on stage in Australia a few days later.

The musician, real name Josh Tillman, gave the comedic speech at a Sydney concert on Wednesday night (local time).

"Uh, well, thanks. I don't have a whole lot of time, but, God, f**k, I just wanna say f**k society,"

"I wanna say that this government is a criminal organisation... FlatEarth.com, please go check that out.

"And, you know, when I was growing up everyone told me, you know - whether it's like Mommy, Daddy, the church, schoolteachers, whoever - you know, everybody was always saying that, like, it's what's on the inside that matters, you know, and I think that this is really evidence of the fact that it's what's outside that matters."

He motioned to an imaginary trophy in his empty hand during the speech.

Father John Misty won the 2018 Grammy for Best Recording Package. He was also nominated for Best Alternative Music Album for Pure Comedy, which he lost to the National's Sleep Well Beast.
