Teens recreate epic Mulan scene for school project

If you're disappointed that Disney's live-action Mulan remake has been pushed back to March 2020, we have something for you in the meantime.

A group of teens from Ohau, Hawaii, have created their own fairly spot-on version of the iconic 'I'll Make a Man Out of You' scene from the 1998 animated film Mulan

"Three days, five broken sticks, a shoe and volleyball stuck in a tree, and 2883827274832 hours of bloopers ALL for a 38 second video," the creator, 17-year-old Glenna Matuato wrote on Twitter.

Glenna told Buzzfeed the assignment was for a broadcast media class.  She was told to recreate a movie scene, so she picked a scene from her favourite childhood film. After shooting, she put the video online, where it's received over 8 million views, and 200,000 retweets.

Hawaii News Now reports that Matuato hasn't gotten a grade on the assignment yet, but as far as the public goes, it's straight As.

The short video will tide over fans who are eagerly waiting to see the new Disney live-action remake, now set for release in two years. It was originally set to open in November this year, but Hollywood Reporter says it took two years to find the film's star, Chinese actress Liu Yifei.
