Australian retail chain David Jones will open its first international store in Wellington at the end of July.
The company is taking the space formerly held by Kirkcaldie and Stains on Lambton Quay, which shut up shop in January after more than 150 years in business.
Following months of refurbishments, the company announced the new David Jones store will open on July 28.
It'll have the same design aesthetic as other Australian stores and will be open for late night shopping on Fridays where it will close at 8pm.
"We are well underway with the internal refurbishment of the beautiful building we will occupy on Lambton Quay and we look forward to opening a flagship store in the heart of New Zealand's thriving capital, Wellington," chief operating operator David Thomas says.
Inside the building will be three floors of fashion, beauty, accessories and homeware as well as housing a café.
