Te Atatu neighbourhood holds vigil after killing

A prayer service and candelit vigil to remember Cun Xiu Tian has been held at a West Auckland church this evening.

The 69-year-old was killed in a brutal assault in her Te Atatu home last Friday.

Tonight was all about bringing the shaken community back together. People prayed, then walked together in silence to Ms Tian's home.

Te Atatu Youth Pastor David Spackman organised the event with his family.

"We wanted to share the love I guess," he says. "We wanted to have a safe place for people to come, to meet, and to grieve if that's what they want."

Candle by candle, flower by flower, everyone was praying and hoping for the killer to be found.
