Exclusive: Going to the edge of space with NASA

New Zealand has traditionally chosen not to take part in space flight, but that's changing.

Out on the back blocks of Christchurch is a part of the airport which is completely off limits to almost everyone except NASA.

NASA is sending its astronomers into to stratosphere with a multi-million dollar giant telescope called SOFIA so they can analyse the stars.

New Zealand is one of the best places to do it because there are whole parts of the universe you can only see from our corner of the world, including the centre of our galaxy.

Story was lucky enough to be on board and travelled to the edge of space.

So what was it like? For the crew, its business and they've done it before but for a newcomer, your body soon tells you you're far away from home.
