Preparing for a natural disaster in NZ's biggest city

Last week's quake was a terrifying reminder about how powerful mother nature can be and the value of being prepared.

Although the South has been bearing the brunt of earthquakes and tsunami warnings, there is still no excuse to be unprepared.

We know there are few fault lines in the Auckland region, but experts say Auckland should be prepared and ready should a natural disaster and tsunami strike.

To the north of Auckland, there are tectonic plates moving in the same way Japan's were back in 2011.

But if a tsunami were to happen, how much time would you have? What would the warnings be? Are you at risk and are you prepared?
