A swimmer is missing and another has been treated after an incident at Piha beach on Auckland's west coast, police say.
The search for the man is continuing on Saturday evening, police say.
The Westpac rescue helicopter and the police Eagle helicopter are helping search the water around Lion's Rock.
Rescue boats have been stood down due to rough conditions and glare on the water from the low sun.
On Saturday afternoon there were waves reaching three metres high.
