A fire in a truck towing a float at Saturday night's Pride Parade in Auckland had to be extinguished by a member of the public.
Police say at first the man thought it was "special effects", but when he realised it wasn't, grabbed a fire extinguisher from a nearby restaurant and got to work.
The incident happened on the corner of Ponsonby Rd and Tole St at around 8:30pm.
The float, belonging to Air New Zealand, had to be pulled from the parade. In footage shot by the airline, dancers on a float continue to do thier thing as smoke billows past them.
Police said it appears the vehicle's engine overheated after spending so long moving slowly.
No one was hurt.
