Man left with cuts to neck in New Plymouth assault

A young man and woman have appeared in court after a fight in New Plymouth on Friday night which left a man with cuts on his neck.

Just before midnight one person confronted a group of people doing burnouts in the area of Everett Rd.

As a result of an altercation, one man has suffered slash marks to his neck, police say.

A 23-year-old man faces a charge of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and a 17-year old-female has been charged with being an accessory after the fact.

They both appeared in the New Plymouth District Court on Saturday morning and will reappear on March 1.

Inquiries into what happened are continuing and Police want to hear from anyone who saw vehicles doing burnouts or driving erratically in the Waitara, Inglewood and Lepperton areas on Friday night.
