Christchurch man plays closest game of 9 in 10 so far

Christchurch man Jeff Smit has played the closest game of 9 in 10 seen on The AM Show so far.

Given the challenge of naming nine current or former New Zealand cricket players in 10 seconds, he named the ninth as the buzzer sounded.

There were tense minutes as his answers were double-checked and a decision made on whether he named the ninth player in time.

"He named some that shouldn’t have been Blackcaps," host Mark Richardson said, as the names were counted.

After the judges had deliberated and the nerves solidly set in, Jeff was delivered the good news - he was walking away with a brand new Sapphire spa pool.

"The last one came in just before the buzzer," Duncan Garner informed Jeff.

Jeff was pleased with the win.

"Thank you very much. That's awesome.... My wife's been really keen for a spa to put in the new house."
