Auckland's embattled water treatment plant looks to be in the clear despite another heavy downpour thundering across the region.

Aucklanders have been urged to conserve water since early March when a storm forced dangerous amounts of silt into the Ardmore treatment plant.

Watercare chief executive Raveen Jaduram says it's holding up well.

"There doesn't seem to have been any adverse impact," he told Newshub.

"We have been gradually, carefully increasing the output from our water treatment plant, and it is currently doing about 220 megalitres a day."

Parts of Auckland saw up to 70 millimetres of rain from midnight until midday yesterday.

On Thursday morning, water was flowing across Great North Rd in New Lynn, which was heavily flooded nearly three weeks ago.

The torrent was right next to the sinkhole which opened up during the rain earlier this month. It wasn't deep enough to prevent vehicles driving through it.

Much of the shopping area around the sinkhole remains cordoned off.
