Are you offended by the Playboy playmate posing nude on the top of Mt Taranaki?

Playboy playmate Jaylene Cook has created a social media storm after posing nude on top of Mt. Taranaki.

While some say the photo is tasteful, local Maori have labelled it "disrespectful" and "inappropriate".

They say posing on top of the peak is only very rarely done for ceremonial purposes, and this was not one of them.

Maori consider Mt Taranaki as an ancient burial site and the mountain itself as an ancestor.

Cook has since come out apologising for any insensitivity she may have caused but says she'd do it again because it felt amazing.

Cook's photo has amassed more than 10,000 likes and she has more than 300,000 followers.

The story has made headlines around the world, sparking conservation about whether it was appropriate online.
