A teenager arrested over the violent carjacking of an elderly woman in Auckland was sentenced to four years and two months in prison on Friday.

Lily Pritchard-Davis, 18, was brought before the Auckland District Court over 28 charges - many of which were committed while on bail.

Her crimes include aggravated robbery, burglary, theft, unlawfully taking a motor vehicle, assault, aggravated assault against a police officer and resisting arrest.

Pritchard-Davis made national headlines for her assault on 65-year-old Nancy Voon in Panmure last year, which left the elderly woman hospitalised with a broken nose, broken teeth and concussion.

Video shows Ms Voon being dragged out of her car. She tried to run away, but Pritchard-Davis chased her down and continued the attack.

"She is struck several times in the head with the object and is then kicked in the head as she falls to the ground," police said at the time.

In court, her lawyer described her as "young, immature, but also intelligent".

During her sentencing, Pritchard-Davis reportedly appeared to smirk and waved to her family at court.

Judge Ema Aitken had to tell the teen to pay attention and also claimed Pritchard-Davis told police she had no fear of being sent to prison because it would gain her "notoriety".

She reportedly told family members at the court she loved them while being led away to the cells.
